KINGS CANYON RIM WALK

KINGS CANYON RIM WALK

The 6k one way day hike, requiring an average to high fitness level, skirts the lip of a spectacular 150m deep canyon in the Red Centre. From the top you’ll see spectacular rock formations and the Garden of Eden, an unexpected oasis with ancient cycads amid lush flora.

Even on a winter’s day it’s best to begin this three to four-hour walk before dawn. The morning sun colours the landscape in rich pink and gold hues, and it’s also the best time to see kangaroos, white-plumed honeyeaters and lively zebra finches.

When: Avoid the hottest months (December to April). Come in spring instead (September to November).
