LARAPINTA TRAIL, SIMPSON’S GAP

LARAPINTA TRAIL, SIMPSON’S GAP

The 223k Larapinta Trail follows in the footsteps of the Australia’s first inhabitants, across ancient and rugged desert landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges.

The full 14-day trail, from Alice Springs through Simpson’s Gap, Ormiston Gorge, and Stanley Chasm, culminating with a steep climb up Mount Sonder, is best tackled by experienced hikers.  Due to the harsh conditions and the Red Centre’s remote location guided group tours are recommended.

When: Between April and September
