The 223k Larapinta Trail follows in the footsteps of the Australia’s first inhabitants, across ancient and rugged desert landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges.
The full 14-day trail, from Alice Springs through Simpson’s Gap, Ormiston Gorge, and Stanley Chasm, culminating with a steep climb up Mount Sonder, is best tackled by experienced hikers. Due to the harsh conditions and the Red Centre’s remote location guided group tours are recommended.
