This multi-day Cradle Mountain alpine hike is a little more friendly than the Larapinta and has become so popular that hikers must book a permit well in advance. You will need to carry your own equipment and food for the entire 65k, six-day journey.

This landscape is thoroughly unique with glacially carved valleys, ancient rainforests, fragrant eucalypts, golden moorlands and beautiful alpine meadows, you can also see cascading waterfalls and mountain summits.

When: Come in summer for wildflowers (December to February) or Autumn to beat the crowds (March to May).
